Crisis Intervention Workshop

From 9th, 11th, 13th and 14th October 2025, UBD Centre for Lifelong Learning in collaboration with AC-ACE Creative Training Services held a Crisis Intervention Workshop facilitated by Dr. Francis Hua Mong Heng, PPA
Former Chairman of the Advisory Committee for Counselling at the SR Nathan School of Human Development, Singapore University of Social Sciences (SUSS)
This 4-day workshop is designed to equip participants with the essential knowledge and skills to
effectively manage crises. Grounded in theories such as the ABC Model of Crisis Intervention, the
workshop explores key concepts, human stress responses, and emotional distress indicators.
Participants will learn practical techniques to de-escalate crises, assess risks, and provide immediate
support, empowering them to handle diverse crisis scenarios – from personal loss to suicide risk – with
confidence. Through interactive methods like role-plays, case studies, and lectures, participants will
develop competencies in crisis communication, intervention strategies, and resource mobilization,
ensuring they can guide individuals toward stability and recovery.
This workshop is suitable for a wide range of professionals and individuals who may encounter people
experiencing a crisis or provide support to those in distress. This includes community leaders,
uniformed personnel, teachers/academics, caregivers and frontliners such as healthcare workers,
social workers, customer service workers, mental health support workers and others seeking to
enhance their crisis response capabilities. Upon completion of the workshop, participants will receive
certificates of participation.
