C3L and inTELECT Public Lecture: Achieving Excellence in Academia by Design

Centre for Lifelong Learning in collaboration with Innovation of Teaching and Learning Centre (inTELECT) organised a Public Lecture with Visiting Professor – Professor Abdul Karim Alias. The lecture is designed to empower academic professionals to navigate, thrive and excel in their academic careers. The lecture focuses on personal strengths, career opportunities including a SWOT analysis and crafting teaching and research philosophies. 

Creating an Engaging and Effective Microcredentials Workshop

Centre for Lifelong Learning in collaboration with Innovation of Teaching and Learning Centre (inTELECT) welcomed Professor Abdul Karim Alias to conduct a two-day workshop titled ‘Creating an Engaging and Effective Microcredentials”. He is currently serving as a Distinguished Fellow at UNITEN and as University Malaya’s Adjunct Professor. The two day workshop equipped UBD Academics with the knowledge and skills to develop engaging and effective micro-credentials for working professionals. Selected academics delved into the world of micro-credentials, learning how to design online learning modules on the OpenLearning platform. The best designed micro-credentials will be awarded to the UBD Academics officially on 6th November 2024 at the upcoming C3L Open Day and Lifelong Learning Festival.

C3L hosts Appreciation Lunch for 2024 Graduates

On 25th September 2024, C3L hosted an appreciation lunch for the 2024 graduates of the UBD 36th Convocation Ceremony. The graduates were honoured for their achievements on the Portraits of Triumph located at Centre for Lifelong Learning. The graduates and lecturers in attendance were from BSc in Digital Economy and Master of Government.

Centre for Lifelong Learning welcomes Head of Manpower Planning and Employment Council Secretariat

Centre for Lifelong Learning welcomed Head of Manpower Planning and Employment Council (MPEC) Secretariat, Prime Minister’s OfficeYang Mulia Dr. Hjh Siti Haziah binti POK Saiful Mulok DSP Haji Abidin to discuss SkillsPlus programme support awarded by MPEC and collaborative research initiatives. 

SkillsPlus is a program for local jobseekers and local employees in the private sector including freelancers to reskill & upskill themselves by taking courses that are less than 1 year that are courses offered by Centre for Lifelong Learning (C3L) on the Lifelong Learning Centre (L3C) portal where funding assistance will be provided to those who meets the criteria.

Centre for Lifelong Learning welcomed BICPA Academy  to discuss and collaborate on professional lifelong learning opportunities in accounting

The Brunei Darussalam Institute of Certified Public Accountants (BICPA) is a non-profit organisation, managed and run through the voluntary service of accountants of Brunei Darussalam. It was established on May 6, 1987. 

Institute of Adult Learning Singapore, Roundtable Discussion and Visit to Centre for Lifelong Learning

On 14th August 2024, Centre for Lifelong Learning attended a round table discussion with Institute of Adult Learning (IAL), Singapore. The discussion was also attended with Ministry fo Education, Lifelong Learning Centre, Tri-CEd, Universiti Teknologi Brunei and Pejabat Perancangan Tenaga Manusia (PPTM), Prime Minister’s Office. The discussion was to explore research and collaboration projects in lifelong learning.

Representatives from Institute of Adult Learning Singapore and Lifelong Learning Centre later visited Centre for Lifelong Learning to further discuss lifelong learning initiatives and opportunities.

Congratulations Class of 2024 C3L Graduates

Congratulations Class of 2024 for our graduates BSc in Digital Economy and Master of Government. The UBD 36th Convocation Ceremony was held on 12th August 2024 at UBD Chancellor Hall. 

The C3L graduates will be added to the Portraits of Triumph wall, a home for C3L Graduates.

Kagawa Science Exhibition and Visit to Kagawa University

From 4th-7th August, UBD Centre for Lifelong Learning, UBD PAPRSB Institute of Health Sciences and Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah Institute of Education faculty members participated in an Educational visit to Kagawa University, Japan. The visit began with the Science Exhibition held at Sunport Hall Takamatsu. The UBD exhibition booth featured activities relating to Brunei rice culture, traditional games and wildlife. The aim of the exhibition was to promote lifelong learning and science through activities to children and the local community. The exhibition raised awareness of UBD research and lifelong learning initiatives through education and science.

UBD and Kagawa University representatives from the Faculty of Education, International Office and Faculty of Agriculture discussed multi-disciplinary research projects and collaborations in Nutrition Education – Ambuyat Workshop to local teachers, Special Needs Education, Generative AI and Rare Sugar production.

Centre for Lifelong Learning welcomes Lifelong Learning students for August 2024 intake

On 31st July 2024, C3L welcomed all lifelong learning students to a briefing for the August 2024 intake including 14 Week Courses, Master of Government, Master of Public Health, Master of Digital Public Health and Micro–Master of Occupational Health and Safety (MMOHS)
